The Rauma Railway becomes more and more popular amongst tourists. A trip on this railway brings you close to the spectacular nature between Åndalsnes and Dombås.

The construction of the Rauma Railway started in 1912 and it opened for traffic from Dombås to Bjorli in 1921. In 1924 the railway was officially opened by the king for regular passenger traffic. For many years, the Rauma Railway was the main communication route for the transportation of passengers and mail between the county of Møre & Romsdal and Oslo, the capital.
The trip between Dombås and Åndalsnes is 114 km long and takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. The train passes 32 bridges - including the famous Kylling Bridge, 59 metres above the Rauma river - and passes through 6 tunnels. The train has large windows, allowing you to lean back and enjoy the magnificant scenery. The train also goes past the famous Trollveggen - the Troll wall, Europe's highest perpendicular mountain wall.
In the summer it is even nicer to take a ride on the Rauma Railway: the train run especially slowly through the most spectacular scenery, it stops for pictures at Kylling Bridge and by the Troll wall, a guide will give you information through the speakers, and you will also receive a brochure with information about the hightlights of the journey.
